Some cameras are worth fixing. Many old lenses still compete with modern ones. And sometimes the part you need is just a bit too far out of reach.

Silver & Brass is a one-person repair and fabrication shop with the goal of providing analog gear the opportunity to stay in use for as long as possible. Collin Shontz repairs film cameras and lenses, designs and 3d prints custom accessories and adapters, and photographs with the equipment he works on. Vintage gear deserves to live on, and I am dedicated to making that happen.

Whether you have a camera that needs attention, a lens without a home, or an idea that does not fit an off-the-shelf solution, this is the right place.

About

Collin Shontz fixes things, builds things, and photographs with the things he fixes and builds. His work sits at the intersection of analog photography, mechanical repair, and digital fabrication — restoring film cameras, designing custom lens adapters, and printing accessories.

The work here is self-taught, iterative, and documented. Every adapter has gone through multiple revisions. Every camera repair starts with understanding why it failed. The same instincts that go into diagnosing a shutter mechanism go into any problem worth solving: figure out how it works, find what is wrong, and fix it properly.
